RISE DAY UK takes place on Friday 21st June 2024. It is an opportunity for communities and organisations to RISE UP against Youth Unemployment. People from all walks of life will walk, climb, run, swim and row to raise funds.

Story

RISE DAY takes place on Friday 21st June 2024, and is an opportunity for communities and organisations to RISE UP against youth unemployment.

This year I will be joining colleagues and RISE graduates hiking for 8 hours, spanning 32km across the Jurassic coastline of south Devon dressed as a dinosaur!

The event highlights the great skills that young people bring to the workplace such as creativity, innovation, imagination, fearlessness and ambition.

Afterall...just because you have a grown-up job doesn’t mean you need to always act grown-up!!! Or be a Dinosaur!

RISE DAY is organised and funded by the RISE UP charity which specialises in supporting some of the UK’s most vulnerable young people in finding meaningful careers. For the young people we work with, a job isn’t just a job – it’s security, shelter, financial independence, a sense of belonging and a hope for a better future.

Did you know: The number of young people in employment across the UK dropped by 94,000 in Q4 2023. UK youth unemployment also stands at 12.6% compared to a 10.6% average across OEDC member countries.

We help young people, especially those facing barriers to employment, access and succeed in life-changing career-related opportunities. We do this by coaching and empowering young people with their own job search, and by facilitating work placements with progressive employers.
