Story
As many of you know in 2017 we were expecting our first baby. On 25th of September leanne gave birth to a beautiful baby boy. His name was William. He was born at 2.20am. He weighed 9lb 13oz. And sadly he was born sleeping.
When you find out you are having a baby the thought of your child being still born does not even enter your head. But it happens more than you would think. And when it does it is devastating. It was the hardest thing we ever went through and the hardest thing we will ever go through. Thankfully we had amazing family and friends to help us.
We also had support from a few charities. One charity that was there for us was SANDS (the stillbirth and neonatal death charity). They provided the forget me not suite where William was born. A place where William could be born and we could spend time with him, grieve and do everything he needed us to do in our own time and our own space
They work to help people in similar situations to us. To support them, guide them, and listen to them when things feel like they are too much. They also put a lot of time effort and money into research to try and reduce the number of children that are stillborn.
This is an amazing charity that has done so much for so many. Which is why on the 18th of may me and leanne will be doing the SANDS midnight snowdon climb. We are doing it in memory of our son William and our aim is to raise as much money for SANDS as we can. I know things are hard at the moment but if you are able to donate to this amazing charity please click the link below. And thank you in advance it means more to us than you will ever know.
Stillbirth is a rather taboo subject. It is something people understandably don’t like talking about. But it does happen. Too often. And when it does it can make you feel isolated and alone. If anyone does go through something similar to us we want you to know you’re not alone. There are people out there who can support you and help. And our door is always open if you need a chat.
Thankyou all again from the bottom of our hearts. And Thankyou to SANDS for everything you have done for us.
