Achieve “4” Steve

Swimming & Running
Thanks for taking the time to visit this just giving page.
As a lot of you know, in the summer of 2021, due to a rare form of Muscular Dystrophy, we lost Steve Rutland one of my best friends of nearly 40 years. This has had a huge effect on his family, our circle of friends and my life leaving us all devastated.
I am determined to transform the impact of this loss into something positive by raising crucial funds for Muscular Dystrophy UK.
Muscular Dystrophy UK is the charity for 111,000 people living with this muscle-wasting condition. They are making a difference today providing vital information, help and support to people living independently as possible. They are making a difference for tomorrow, accelerating progress in research and driving the campaign for access to emerging treatments
As Steve was a keen swimmer it seems only fitting to honour his memory by swimming!!!
I’ve set myself four challenges over the course of the next ten months. To swim End to End across the following lakes:
June 22nd - Coniston, 5.25 miles
July 13th - Ullswaterr 7.5 miles.
August 31st - Lake Windermere, 11 miles
The Fourth Challenge is the London Marathon in April 2025. After years of Steve telling me I’d never run a marathon, it seems only fitting to right that wrong. I was due to run it in 2022 and 2023 but due to a knee injury and subsequent surgery its been deferred twice - it’s time to put that right. 3rd time lucky!
Many thanks,
Matt x
