Story
I am very proud to be running the 2025 London Marathon for Brain Research UK. This is a cause close to my heart, especially after losing my Dad in July 2024 to a stroke.
My Dad was the typical Dad - we loved going for a pint and discussing all things sport. It was a standard pub trip in June 2024 where, breaking from tradition, he asked me if he could say a few words at my upcoming wedding. Of course I said yes.
3 weeks to the day after giving his speech he passed away suddenly.
He was a hugely popular figure in the community, a passionate cricket fan and player (of questionable talent) and someone who's absence will never quite be filled. A fantastic Dad, brother, husband and friend.
It is a massive shame that I will not get to see his reaction to me finally getting in to the London Marathon as this has always been very much on my bucket list of things to achieve, but I know he'll be there in spirit cheering me on to the finish line.
Brain Research UK do truly outstanding work, such as funding projects and fellowships under three priority themes: brain tumours, acquired brain and spinal cord injury, and headache and facial pain. They also fund research into neurodegenerative conditions - including dementia and motor neurone disease.
Help me to make a difference - your support means that we can continue to fund life-changing research so that people living with neurological conditions can live better longer.
