Attempting to walk 10K a day in June, 1 June 2024
In June try to walk 10,000 steps a day where EVERY STEP you take will represent one of the 300,000 homeless people in the UK right now. (10k steps is roughly 5 miles).

Story

I am going to try to walk 10,000 steps a day in the month of June in aid of the Ferry Project, a homelessness charity based in Wisbech, UK.

Every step of my possible 300,000 steps in June will represent a homeless person in the UK right now. There are currently 309,000 homeless people in the UK (according to research published by Shelter in December 2023).

I am choosing to do this walk, however homeless people don't get the luxury of a choice.

Did you know that a homeless person in a rural area has no choice but to walk 30,000 steps (13 miles) every day just to access the services they need to meet their basic needs?

This equates to 5 and 1/4 homeless people walking the circumference of the world in a year!

So please support my efforts by donating what you can and help to make a difference in the lives of homeless people supported by the Ferry Project.

Thank you.

The Ferry Project is here to help single adult homeless people in Fenland - not simply to provide accommodation, but to give them the skills they need to live independently. Since our beginning in 1988, we have supported over 3000 homeless people.
