I'm supporting the Campus Y because the future of our community relies upon the ability of passionate young people to transform their anger, their interests, and their sense of justice into affirmative change.
For anyone who is questioning how to get involved, I say to you: Just show up. You don't need permission. You don't need to know for sure that your skills will match the need you have in mind. Just show up - physically - and ask how you can help. Then do it again. Then do it again. Show up, and say yes, and get busy.
Snag your tix to the event and cheer me on!

More about Throwback Prom:
Throwback Prom is an annual event that brings together 200 attendees, including university leadership, current students, and alumni from Washington University, as well as connections across the St. Louis community. Through this event, we aim to foster a sense of community - picture all ages dancing to “Y.M.C.A.” together on the dance floor - while also benefiting the work of the Campus Y.
The Campus Y guides and advises 60 student leaders to coordinate 25 community volunteer programs engaging 800 volunteers in 25,000 hours of service each year. Three staff and the seven member Student Executive Council provide a sounding board for student leaders to ensure community engagement is well-informed and guided by the community engaged.
