Story
First of all, thank you for taking the time to look at our fundraising page
We are climbing the 3 biggest mountains in each of the countries in the UK - Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon (Yr Wyddfa) - with the aim of completing all 3 within 24 hours. This involves a total walking distance of 23 miles (37km) and the total ascent is 3064 metres (10,052ft), the total driving distance is 462 miles.
We recently learned of the funding deficit that Hospiscare are facing and that they have scaled back the services they can provide to patients and their families at a very important and difficult time in one's journey through life. We are both GP's working in Exeter and value the service that Hospiscare provide and we wanted to help by fundraising for them so that the services they provide can be maintained or even help to contribute to the opening up of services that have been lost.
If you live in Exeter, Mid or East Devon, Hospiscare is your local adult hospice charity. Should you or a loved one need care for any type of terminal illness, our professional team of doctors and nurses are here to help. Our services are provided irrespective of race, religion, age, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, mental or physical disability, diagnosis or place of national origin.
(Roughly) Our itinerary for the challenge is:
6am - Begin ascent of Ben Nevis (Scotland)
11am - finish descent of Ben Nevis and begin the drive to Scafell Pike (England)
4pm - Begin ascent of Scafell Pike
8pm - Finish descent of Scafell Pike and begin the drive to Snowdon (Wales)
2am - Begin ascent of Snowdon
6am - Challenge complete
We also need to say a big thank you to Liz and John who will be our driving team.
To everyone donating to our fundraising event - THANK YOU!
