Story
I would have loved to joined the Kilimanjaro team, but with family and work commitments this year, it wasn't possible. So instead I am doing a 10 mile Tough Mudder on 7 September to support Kelly's Heroes.
The Tough Mudder includes hardcore obstacle courses designed to test your all around strength, stamina, and mental grit. It is going to be a huge challenge. In preparation my training will include endurance, running and cold water training. The aim is to finish!
Being part of the glazing industry, I wanted to raise money for a charity that has meaning to the sector. John Hewitt, who was a director of Glazerite Windows, set up We Mind and Kelly Matters - now known as Kelly's Heroes in 2019.
The charity was created after the devastating loss of Kelly Hewitt who was taken from us way too young following her struggles with Mental Health. Kelly's Mum, Dad and Sister set the charity up to help other struggling with their mental health and for those who have been bereaved by suicide.
Unless you are affected or know someone struggling with Mental Health it’s difficult to understand. There is often still a stigma associated with it, leaving many to suffer in silence, our aim is to raise awareness and help to prevent suicide.
The Kelly's Heroes team, is aiming to raise £50,000 this year to help the charity continue their vital work.
