Story

Thanks very much for taking the time to visit my fundraising page for The My Name'5 Doddie Foundation. Like most people who create a Just Giving fundraising page, I’m here for a reason. Sadly a really great friend and colleague of mine – Nigel Baxter – was diagnosed with MND in the middle of last year and the progression of this terrible disease for him, has sadly been rapid. Nigel and I keep in touch regularly and his updates on the impact MND is having on him and his family are absolutely heart breaking – especially as Nigel has always looked after himself.

As a young man, Nigel was not only a very keen cyclist, but also a very good one, so out of total admiration and respect for his cycling achievements, I've decided to enter the Babble Ride Across Britain 2024. For those who don’t know what this is – the challenge is to cycle the length of our Great Nation, from Land's End to John O'Groats over a consecutive 9 day period. So, whilst this event is not Le Tour, I’ll still be cycling in excess of 100 miles a day! It’ll be hard and gruelling, but absolutely nothing in comparison to what Nigel is facing now on a daily basis.

The My Name'5 Doddie Foundation are a charity who are absolutely committed to funding research to find not only effective treatments, but to also find a cure for Motor Neuron Disease.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe - they'll never sell them on, nor will they spam you with any unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the Foundation, saving time and cutting down on administrative costs for the charity.

Thanks for your support!
