Story
My Mum and Dad (pictured) were true inspirations, not just to me and my family but to countless friends, neighbours and colleagues. They touched so many people with their warm hearts and generous spirits, and Cancer took them both from all of us, far too early.
Macmillan were incredible during their illnesses, and I wanted to give something back to help others in the same position.
Mum did enjoy some sport including tennis, but her passion was supporting the local community, volunteering at local events, charities and clubs and supporting those in need.
Dad was a born sportsperson, an excellent tennis player, a tricky football player, a talented centre at rugby, and also reaching a good standard in squash and table tennis amongst others.
Mum was only 44 when she passed away, and Dad was just 59, and without Macmillan supporting our whole family so wonderfully, I'm not sure how any of us would have been able to keep going.
What I have foolishly decided to do is to take on a different challenge every month in 2025. All of them will take 12 hours, and I know that at my advanced age, I will need all my determination and resolve to finish each of these.
For some of these challenges, I will need some willing victims / volunteers to join in and to help me get through the pain and provide the energy I need.
