Story
In July I'll be cycling 300 miles from my house in Leeds to Borough Market in London, just a hop across the river from where I was born in Barts Hospital. I will be joining a group of over 80 riders on the Jo Cox Way from Jo's constituency in West Yorkshire to London. Over five days, this group - from a range of different backgrounds and different cycling abilities - will really bring Jo's 'more in common' message to life.
I'm taking part in the Jo Cox Way because - like Jo herself - I believe that we have more in common than that which divides us. The ride fundraises for The Jo Cox Foundation which aims to make meaningful change on issues that Jo was passionate about. Jo Cox was a passionate campaigner, activist and humanitarian; a proud Yorkshire lass and internationalist; and a devoted mum, daughter, sister, wife, friend and MP.
However, I'm very disappointed and embarrassed by the national Labour party's lack of support for Palestine and the people of Gaza - so I will match fund the same amount as I raise for the Jo Cox Foundation in donation to support them people of Gaza.
