100 Miles in October · 1 October 2023 to 31 October 2023 ·

Your challenge is to walk, jog or run 100 miles in October. You can spread it across the month any way you like. How about walking to or from work? Or adding an extra few miles on an autumn walk in the countryside?

Story

The Market Chapter at the National Deaf Children's Society have set ourselves a challenge to collectively walk, jog or run 100 Miles in October. Through the predicted mini heatwave, rain, wind and Storm Babet, we will get out there and raise funds to help overcome the social and educational barriers that hold deaf children back.

There are more than 50,000 deaf children in the UK and most are born to hearing parents with no previous experience of deafness.

Deaf children are almost twice as likely as all children to start school without having achieved expected levels of development, because they're not getting the right support in their early years. And teachers of the deaf, who provide specialist support and make such a difference to a deaf child's life, have seen their numbers fall to the lowest on record. The National Deaf Children's Society is determined to do something about it.

We need your help! Please support us - every donation matters, whether it is £5 or £50. Thank you!
