My dad died in February 2020 having spent the last 3 years of his life in a specialist care home for dementia sufferers. His mental decline started long before that and I struggle to describe how heart-breaking it was watching a highly intelligent, articulate man slowly become an empty shell.

My mum is following a similar path and has recently moved into full time care having previously required daily care and support from me.

I know there are thousands of similar stories, but this is a terrible disease which now impacts most of us in some way.

I am trying to raise money for The Alzheimer’s Society, a charity who are actively fighting dementia.
