Story
In 1885, William Grant, founder of Glenfiddich distillery set out on a walk from Dufftown to Braemar - a distance of over 90 klm.
I want to run this route, with a few friends from the hospitality industry, to explore the landscape, challenge ourselves physically and arrive at our destination for a luxury tour of Glenfiddich.
Starting from Braemar, we'll summit the Munro's of Beinn a'Bhuird and Ben Avon along the route ( although, I doubt William took this route home!) and down into Tomintoul to finish 48.5K and day 1.
Day 2 will be a more gentle start heading into the Glenlivet estate, across to Benrinnes and the Meikle hills towards Dufftown. A 45k day.
This isn't going to be a "walk in the (national) park" with over 1400 m of ascent each day and 90% on trail paths- it's going to be a big challenge indeed. It would be really helpful if you could donate something - as all money raised will help each foot forward. Also, William Grant and Son will match donations - so we really can hit the targets we are aiming for.
I'm passionate about the outdoors, its healing effect on mental health and the space we can call a playground - that's why I've chosen to raise money for Protect Our Winters.
A statement from Protect Our Winters:
Lovers of the outdoors we need you! Help us to protect the places and lifestyles that we love from climate change. Protect our winters.
Join us in our goal to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050. Help us to bring change in renewable energy, electric transportation carbon pricing policies and prevent fossil fuel extraction on our public lands.
We know that the outdoor community will smash this!
