Following my diagnosis of MDS in July 2023, I started a journey of treatment and recovery. My journey started on Yarty Ward at the RD &E hospital which included two rounds of chemotherapy and two lengthy stays. During this time I received fabulous care and was well supported by ELF staff and volunteers.I heard of many fundraising stories undertaken by staff on Yarty Ward and was determined to undertake my own after my treatment ended.

Following a stem cell transplant at Derriford Hospital, Bracken Ward (where I received wonderful support), and another period in hospital I was discharged in February 2024 to begin a lengthy recovery period at home monitored regularly by clinicians on Birch Ward which is still ongoing.

Move on a year and I am now back on the bike training hard and looking forward to undertaking this cycling challenge. Riding with me will be Nicki from the Yarty team and my brother John.

During my journey I have met many blood cancer patients , young and old, and have been struck by their determination to fight this illness. Supporting ELF will help provide those who suffer with this issue with the help they need to fight! Please help ELF to help in this fight.

Thank you.
