Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
This year, I’m biting the bullet and taking on the London Marathon. Having run a half-marathon a few years back, I’m viewing this challenge with excitement and a big serving of nerves! I’ll be fundraising for a fantastic charity that's been a part of my life for over two decades, Nova New Opportunities in North Kensington. Don’t let the location name fool you; the area has one of the highest levels of inequality and poverty in the country.
Nova supports people in achieving their potential and improving their quality of life. They offer a unique mix of education courses in basic skills, help with employment and cost-of-living challenges, activities for families and children facing barriers to inclusion, and a social change programme that promotes inclusion and connects diverse groups. It’s a really impressive offering, made more so given Nova’s size and the 2,000+ people they work with each year.
What I also really admire about Nova is their agility and responsiveness to the needs of the community. From major events like the local Grenfell Tower fire and Covid-19 to the cost-of-living crisis, I’ve seen Nova quickly figure out what the community needs and then deliver to meet those needs, always in an impactful and professional way. They instinctively understand the importance of the “how” as well as the “what,” which makes a real difference, in my eyes.
Last year, Nova celebrated its 40th year, and that’s pretty remarkable for any charity. I’m pulling on my running shoes to help them do what they do so well for another 40. Your generous support would mean a lot to me, and I know to Nova as well.
