Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I started running in 2015 when my daughter started the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme. She chose parkrun for her activity and volunteering elements. I thought my wife would take her to the weekly parkrun. How wrong could I have been? Instead I took her to parkrun every week for 18 months.
My home parkrun is Conkers in the heart of the National Forest.
To date I have completed 366 parkruns and volunteered on 196 occasions. Not that I am counting of course!
In 2021 I joined a local running club ‘Swad Joggers’ and quickly wanted to be more involved. I completed the Leadership in Running Fitness (LiRF) qualification and joined the leaders group. We run twice weekly in and around the Conkers Circuit in the heart of the National Forest.
Everything was going really well until I suffered a nasty fall in November 2022. The injury was diagnosed as an undisplaced L tibial fracture. I thought my running days were over.
It has taken 2 years of hard work to recover from that injury. I have regained my fitness and enjoy my weekly parkrun, leading for Swad Joggers and completing Half Marathons.
Running the London Marathon is on my bucket list. To achieve this in 2025 will be a lifetime experience and a great way to celebrate my 60th Birthday.
Running for the National Forest will be extra special.
