Event: Ride Africa: Mara Calling November 2024, from 9 November 2024 to 16 November 2024
In November 2025, a group of brilliant fundraisers will cycle hundreds of kilometres across Kenya to raise money for Child.org, a charity working to support mums and babies in Kenya with life-saving healthcare and information.

Story

I feel so lucky to have been born in the UK. In Africa babies and their mothers still die from preventable causes. I want to raise money to try and help prevent this from happening.

Child.org is a charity which is addressing this problem by:

- Improving women's knowledge and autonomy to help them make informed decisions about their healthcare

- Improving the quality of maternal and child health services in Kenya

- Championing community-based solutions and strengthening government health systems

Since 2019, Child.org has supported over 10,000 pregnant women and their babies through their Team Mum pregnant women's groups: these groups bring women together, in their communities to learn life-saving health information so that mums can keep themselves, and their babies, alive safe and healthy during pregnancy, birth and post-partum.

£100 is enough to set up a pregnancy support group for 15 women, to guide them through safe pregnancy with a 95% success rate.
