Story
‘Swimming for the Visually Impaired’ is one of the more recent projects sponsored by Southampton Sight. Running in conjunction with Active Nation at The Quays Swimming and Diving Complex, the group gives a wonderful opportunity for those living with sight loss to meet up and exercise once a week. We are improving our swimming skills and as a challenge, on April 18th our goal is to swim 125 lengths to commemorate the upcoming anniversary, one length for each year. We would be extremely grateful for any sponsors or donations to help support our swimming challenge and secure the future development of the group.
Southampton Sight is a small local charity supporting people to live well with their sight loss. 2024 is their quasquicentennial (125th) year delivering services in Southampton and to mark this incredible achievement they are encouraging people (especially those living with sight loss) to partake in activities that may put them out of their comfort zones but also gives them a different experience of challenge and achievement – one they may never have felt before and shows them that there is more in them than they think. The money raised will support more people living with sight loss to be able to have opportunities that support them to live independently and fulfilled lives.
