Story
I'm walking 1K a day in February to support families facing dementia.
Dementia UK is the specialist dementia nurse charity. Our nurses, called Admiral Nurses, provide life-changing care to families affected by all forms of dementia, including Alzheimers disease. They help people with dementia stay independent for longer, and support the people caring for them so they have the strength to cope with the bad days, and the energy to enjoy the good days. They have the time to listen and the knowledge to solve problems, helping families take back control when they are struggling.
As those close to the family are aware that dad has the worst form of dementia (my opinion). He has a rare known dementia called picks disease. It starts off with the vocabulary but get progressively worse until there is no longer a coherent language there. Dad is currently at this stage and our poor mum Christine has to deal with the daily struggles looking after dad to which we can only imagine how bad they are. I am doing this 1k a day (although I plan to try for 5k a day) to help raise funds for more support for families that have to go through the heartache that dementia causes. Please if you can spare even £1 it would really be appreciated. Thank you for taking the time to read this
Want to join me in supporting a good cause? I'm walking 1K a day in February for Dementia UK and I'd be so grateful for your support. Whether you donate £5 or £500, every little bit helps families facing dementia. Thank you!
