Story
For 23 years I walked past the former Nurses Hostel in Romsey Road and was delighted when the derelict building was converted into the Winchester Hospice. Working in the new West Downs Centre opposite the Hospice I am reminded everyday as I look out of the windows onto Romsey Road, of the important work that goes on within those walls and the enormous financial cost there is to keep the Hospice running.
WINCHESTER HOSPICE PROVIDES SPECIALIST PALLIATIVE AND END OF LIFE CARE TO ADULTS WITH LIFE-LIMITING ILLNESS.
With the help and generosity of family, friends, and University of Winchester staff, I hope that by running in this years Winchester Marathon (which passes the Hospice) I can contribute to some of those costs of this marvellous resouce of care in Winchester which helps not just the residents but their families and friends as well.

I started to run seriously in 2014. It all began by taking part in the weekly 5k Saturday morning Southampton Park Run with my sisters. In 2015 I joined Fareham Crusaders Running Club and was taking part in local races. Since then I have taken part in many half marathons, one of my favourites being the Winchester Half Marathon.
My cover picture shows me soaked to the skin at the end of a 10 mile Gut Buster race at Silchester in December 2022.
