About My Challenge
I'm going to be taking on the National UK Three Peaks Challenge to raise awareness and crucial funds for Teddy20 Supporting Children with Cancer.
The challenge is planned for the 22nd June 2024 and will see me and a team of colleagues from Bistech climb the highest mountains in Scotland (Ben Nevis 1,345m), England (Scafell Pike 978m), and Wales (Snowdon 1,085m) within 24 hours (including the driving between all three).
It will be a demanding test of our endurance and navigation skills, trekking around 28 miles and ascend and descend a total of over 6,000 meters.
Since committing to the challenge, I've had to say "goodbye" to my little sis, Sam, earlier this year, following her battle with bowel cancer. So I'm dedicating this walk in loving memory of Sam. During the challenge I will draw strength and encouragement by reflecting on all the wonderful things she accomplished and bravely continued doing, despite the inevitability that awaited her. Love you sis! xxx
Why Teddy20?
In 2010 the Newton family lost their son Ted, after an immense battle with a very rare form of bone cancer, Ewings Sarcoma. They set up Teddy20 in memory of their Son, so that they could provide some of the same support that was given to their family during the hardest time of their lives.
Teddy20 became a registered charity in 2014 and since then, with your support, they have continued to grow as a community-based charity providing emotional and financial support to hundreds of children, young people and their families across the Wessex Region.
It's my privilege to be able to do something that can simultaneously raise awareness and funds for such a deserving and noble cause. A cause that has been developed by a family that knows the real value of a community around them and has developed a network of services that can provide families with access to support during what I can only imagine be the toughest of times.
