Story
Hey everyone that knows me!
There are so many passionate organizations here in Brighton who are there to step outside their comfort zones to help autistic teens like my son. And he is now at an age where integrating into society and getting a job is what is best for him. It's very very early doors, but I am surrounding myself with all possibilities and opportunities out there and one of these is TEAM DOMINICA. I love my son and I love to swim so I am going to swim 50 lengths (2.5KM) of the new 50 meter length outdoor pool on Brighton beach, called SEALANES. When my son is 19 he will be able to use TEAM DOMICA's resources to build up skills he may need, until then I am doing a little fundraising for them so they can keep up the amazing work they do. Below is a bit more about them. x
People with learning disabilities are too often unemployed and marginalised in society, with just 5.1 finding paid work in England.
Team Domenica is here to change that. We're here to give young people with learning disabilities a future.
Through a range of training, education and support, we help them build the skills and confidence they need to find work. We then work with businesses in our community to remove barriers to employment.
It works: our Supported Internship Programme has achieved an incredible 84% paid employment rate.
