The English Channel swim is seen as the Mount Everest of all swims as more people have climbed Mount Everest than have swum the English Channel. Swimmers will take part in a relay team of 6 from Dover to France, with the swim taking 12 - 18 hours.

Story

In June 2026, I’ll be swimming the English Channel as part of a six‑person relay to raise money for SwimTayka, a charity giving children around the world the life‑saving water skills they deserve. This challenge means a lot to me personally, and every donation helps protect children from preventable drownings. Thank you so much for supporting this journey.

I’m taking on my biggest challenge yet to help SwimTayka teach children life‑saving water skills around the world.

I wasn’t always a swimmer myself, I used to be terrified of open water but learning to swim changed my life. Now I’m a qualified swim teacher and open‑water coach, and I want to help SwimTayka give that same life‑saving confidence to children everywhere.

If you’d like to support, thank you from the bottom of my heart. Every donation makes a real difference. And as a thank‑you, you can choose my eBook 'Wild Swimming Made Easy: 7 Steps to Swim Safely & Confidently, access to my new beginner‑friendly course Beginner’s Guide to Open Water Swimming (coming soon), or a 1:2:1 online open‑water coaching session. Just drop me a message after donating.

Thank you for helping more children stay safe in the water. 💙

OMG… what have I done?! 😂

I wanted a challenge, a big, wild, slightly terrifying challenge and I think I’ve found it. In June 2026, I’ll be part of a six person relay team swimming the English Channel to raise money for SwimTayka, a charity I’ve admired for years for the life‑saving work they do around the world.

Recently, there have been heartbreaking stories in the news about people drowning, young people, adults, families. It’s devastating, and it’s preventable. Water safety shouldn’t depend on where you live or what you can afford. SwimTayka provides free swimming lessons and water‑safety education to children in low‑income communities across the globe, and they’re now preparing to launch a UK programme too. Every child deserves the skills and confidence to stay safe in the water, no matter their background or postcode.

My own journey with swimming wasn’t straightforward. I wasn’t always a swimmer, in fact I was terrified of open water for years. I’d always wanted to do a triathlon, but the fear held me back. Then one day, after reading You Can’t Break Me by David Goggins, something shifted. I decided I wasn’t going to let fear make decisions for me anymore. I signed up for my first triathlon, absolutely terrified, but determined.

Because safety was my biggest concern, I invested in open‑water coaching, trained as a swim teacher, became an open‑water coach, and even qualified as a beach lifeguard at one point. I wanted to understand the water, respect it, and never take it for granted. And yes… I’m still not sure I’ll ever be fully okay with not knowing what’s under the water, but here we are!

I always thought I’d join SwimTayka overseas as a volunteer swim teacher, and I still hope to, but when I saw the English Channel relay opportunity, something in me said, “This is your moment.” So I signed up. Equal parts excitement and terror, but fully committed.

I know not everyone is in a position to donate, and that’s absolutely okay. Sharing this page, cheering me on, or simply spreading the word about SwimTayka makes a huge difference. If you would like to support financially, I’d love to give something back as a thank‑you. You can choose a copy of my eBook Wild Swimming Made Easy: 7 Steps to Swim Safely & Confidently, access to my new beginner‑friendly course Beginner’s Guide to Open Water Swimming (coming soon), or a 1:2:1 online open‑water coaching session. Just drop me a message after donating.

Drowning claims 360,000 lives every year, many of them children. It’s the third leading cause of unintentional injury death worldwide, yet with education and access, it’s entirely preventable. SwimTayka gives children the skills to survive, thrive, and stay safe around rivers, lakes, and oceans. They create generational change, and I’m proud to support them.

If you’ve read this far, thank you, for your support, your encouragement, and for believing in a world where every child has the chance to be safe in the water. This challenge scares me… but it inspires me too. And knowing I’m doing it for something bigger than myself makes every cold training swim worth it.

Thank you for helping more children stay safe in the water. 💙
