Story
I am running the 2024 London Landmarks half-marathon to raise funds for Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY). I would be grateful if you could donate to my just giving page. If you are unable to donate, but instead could share the link to encourage friends and family to monitor their heart, that would be great.
Most of you will be aware our lovely daughter Eleanor suddenly and unexpectantly passed away in November 2022, aged 13. She had a rare congenital heart condition called Cor Triatriatum. In Eleanor's case, it was an undiagnosed asymptomatic condition that resulted in an abnormal heartbeat leading to cardiac arrest.
Eleanor was a beautiful, vibrant and kind person. She had a knack of seeing the funny side of life and she had a true sense of fun. She loved drama (performing, not causing one) playing drums and photography. Her friends were very dear to her and she was loyal and kind to them. And she loved getting up to mischief with Rocky, our cocker spaniel.
The tragedy that Eleanor, her family and friends have been through can be prevented. Sadly, each week, 12 young people die of undiagnosed heart conditions. Improved screening, awareness and support can improve this situation.
Thank you for taking the time to read this post. If you can make a donation on this page, that would be greatly appreciated. Even being aware of Eleanor's story and raising awareness is valuable.
