Story
Dear Family and Friends,
On June 14th I’ll be embarking on a Triple Challenge adventure. Together with an all-female team we will summit an alpine peak at almost 3,000m, bike 100km across the mountains and cross an icy lake on SUP boards in Switzerland. This is definitely a big challenge for me as biking on a high altitude is not something I have done before and icy water doesn't go well with me.
Why are we doing it? To raise awareness and funds for young Rohingya Refugees affected by climate change in the Cox's Bazar refugee camp. My personal goal is $5888.
This is a self-funded expedition, and 100% of donations will go to UNHCR, our charity partner.
Please support me morally or financially on this next exciting adventure!
Thank you in advance! Promise to keep you posted
Mariana

A bit more on the cause and why I decided to do it.
One of the last large-scale humanitarian crisis responses I got to work on during my time at Save the Children was the Rohingya refugee crisis. I got to meet families that survived extreme acts of violence and settled in the Cox's Bazar refugee camp. Unfortunately, this has become a forgotten crisis.
For this reason, I decided to take on a Triple Challenge to raise awareness and funds for young Rohingya Refugees. Together with an all-female team we will summit an alpine peak at almost 3,000m, bike 100km across the mountains and cross an icy lake on SUP boards.
Your support will go to fund UNHCR's programs focused on the impact the climate change has on the Cox's Bazar, the world's largest refugee camp.
As Southern Bangladesh is extremely vulnerable to the impacts of climate change, the refugees’ makeshift shelters - many of them built on deforested, unstable hillsides - provide little protection against tropical storms of increasing intensity. Last year alone, flooding and landslides forced some 24,000 refugees to abandon their homes.
The main issues leading to environmental issues in overcrowded refugee settlements are forests being cleared to make way for shelters, wild animals being killed and waste disposal problems.
The programme we support focuses on restoring the ecosystem by planting thousands of trees, shrubs and grasses, restoring waterways, and distributing Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) to all households as an alternative to firewood.
Join me in making a difference for young Rohingya Refugees and our planet's future. https://www.justgiving.com/team/switzerland
