The Dorcas Dress Project heads to India!

Fundraising for The Dorcas Dress Project
£400
raised of £500 target
We're being encouraged to set up our first sewing hub in India, in Bangalore the largest city of the southern Indian state of Karnataka. We are doing this in connection with the UK Forge Sphere. https://www.forgesphere.org

Story

The hub will be supported by a core team of 4 women who will be training in sewing and business skills. Your money will be spent on tools, equipment and the resources needed to make this happen.

We have a deep, sympathetic concern for the suffering of others. This calls us to action and fuels our acts of kindness and mercy. We believe that passing on our knowledge is a gift to be shared, teaching others with a spirit of generosity in order to give hope for the future.

We will help the sew hub find suitable outlets for their products and services, enabling them to grow as an enterprise but also a supportive community that holds love and compassion at its heart.

The focus of this fundraising campaign is to provide in-person onsite guidance and support in July 2024, enabling this hub to start strong and grow with confidence.

Thank you for enabling this to happen.

We support people out of situations of financial hardship by providing skills training, resources and pastoral care. Our online training platform enables us to reach people wherever they are, even in remote parts of the world. We offer training, raise funds to provide equipment and support a network of volunteers building craft hubs in their local communities. Our patented dress design has been developed so it can be used as an enterprise tool, the sales of which are fed back into our charity pot to grow and support more people out of poverty. The clever cut, pleats and carefully situated ties on the dress eliminate the need for zips, other trimmings and complex machinery. The project can therefore support makers from situations of hardship, even in remote parts of the world. The project has been developed specifically for charity work, based around Christian ethical values.
