Running for Aid Box Community - support my challenge!

AJ Bell Great Bristol Run Half Marathon 2025 · 11 May 2025 · Start fundraising for this event
I have now worked for Aid Box Community (ABC) for three years and every day I am moved by the organisation's ability to extend welcome, provide practical aid, foster a sense of belonging and create community.
People often tell us that they have never seen a charity like it. That they feel welcome, included, seen and appreciated for who they are. That ABC gives them hope. Here is a quote from one of the first interviews I did as a volunteer; “So, this is really our place, it’s our house, it’s a way really, we feel that we are human.”
After two previous 10k runs, this year I will be taking on a BIG challenge... THE GREAT BRISTOL HALF-MARATHON (21k people)!! All in support of Aid Box Community because along with others it gives me hope and belonging and makes such a big difference to people's lives. In a time where the world feels swamped in violence and disregard of life I cannot think of a better way to show up.
Aid Box Community is a registered charity in Bristol, upholding the rights of refugees and people seeking asylum. Our Free Shop & Welcome Hub offers free essentials, from clothing and toiletries to household items, providing practical aid and empowering individuals with choice and dignity. We also run sports and activity groups, a befriending service, and offer emergency items and advice. These services aim to promote community engagement, support independence, and assist individuals on their path to emotional and financial stability.
