I suffered a life changing spinal cord injury just over 8 years ago. I was paralysed below the neck and was fortunate to survive the ordeal. After a successful operation to remove the crushed disc in my neck, I spent 5 months in rehabilitation learning to walk and use my hands again. I now feel that I can attempt the challenge of trekking to Annapurna Base Camp, and have decided to do it with my son, Monty.
I have known SIA (Spinal Injuries Association) since my accident as I wanted to get involved in helping spinal cord injured people. I acted as a trustee and honorary treasurer for 3 years. SIA do a fantastic job in helping spinal cord injured people and their families, so any donation you can make would be greatly appreciated.

I am so grateful and excited to accompany my dad on a trek to Annapurna base camp in support of SIA.
On New Year's Eve 2015, he suffered a severe spinal cord injury after being hit by a freak wave. Following a few days in the ICU, my family received the life changing news that our dad would not walk again.
After months of rehabilitation, hard work, the support of my mum, family, and friends, he was fortunate enough to slowly recover. I will never forget this confusing and stressful time for our family.
I know how lucky I am to embark on this trip with my dad. We aim to raise money for SIA to support people and families such as ours in the moments, months, and years following a spinal cord injury. We hope SIA can reach as many of these people as possible, and therefore are very appreciative of your sponsorship. Thank you.
