Story
"I feel that my speech is getting better. I have been going to a weekly group run by Dyscover in Leatherhead, for about 1 year now. Maggie and the team are very kind, plan lots of things - they are really good." - Marco, Stroke survivor since Oct 2021
Dyscover is a charity that works to inform, support and empower people with aphasia to manage their communication disability and to re-engage with life.
They create an aphasia friendly community in which people feel included, valued and have a sense of purpose.
Aphasia is a neurological condition, acquired through stroke, brain injury or rare form of dementia and is very isolating and frustrating.
Aphasia does not affect a person's intellect but does affect a person's communication, including their ability to find words, construct sentences and to understand language, both written and spoken.
Dyscover are very proud to be in our 30th year of providing long term support to people with aphasia and their families . Since the 27th April 1994 when they were established they have successfully adapted and developed their services to now provide both face to face and online support. Their aim is to be able to help even more people with aphasia.
Our donation suggestion is £3 - the cost of a posh coffee :)
