Marco's 2024 London Marathon in support of Crohn’s & Colitis UK

London Marathon 2024 · 21 April 2024 ·
Over the past 15 years, I have been researching on paediatric Inflammatory Bowel Disease (Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis). This is indeed my sub-specialist area of interest within my profession as a research-active paediatric gastroenterologist.
Right now, an estimated 500,000 people in the UK are living with a lifelong disease that many people have never heard of. And the real number could be almost double that.
Because of the stigma and misunderstanding surrounding these diseases, thousands of people are suffering in silence.
We’re working to improve diagnosis and treatment, and to fund research into a cure; to raise awareness and to give people hope, comfort and confidence to live freer, fuller lives.
Those of you who know me well enough will be well familiar with my passion for running and with the number of 10K runs and Half Marathons I have participated in over the years. Surprisingly enough, I have never run a full Marathon ... Until now! I am delighted to support such an important cause and I will be most grateful to each and everyone of you who might be able to donate.
This is to support children, adolescents and adults suffering from a life-long condition that may not be visible from the outside but has a major impact on the quality of so many lives.
Thank you wholeheartedly for supporting me, Crohn's and Colitis UK and all the wonderful patients we care for every day at the very best of our capabilities.
Let's make a difference for them and their families. Let's contribute to a brighter future for them all.
