Fundraising for My Name'5 Doddie Foundation
In a moment of weakness, some may say stupidity, a group of friends have signed up to take part in Doddie’s Grand tour 2025. This is an event organised by Rob Wainright and his team to raise money for the well-publicised My Names Doddie Foundation. This year’s tour is a 700mile bike ride, to be completed over four days and finishing in Edinburgh on the 8th of February. We start in Stranraer and will ride through the Borders, up to Perthshire, through the Cairngorms to Aberdeen and back down the East Coast in time for the Scotland vs Ireland Six nations game at Murrayfield. On the route we are to be stopping off at many schools and rugby clubs.
Some may say that we will be taking in some of the finest scenery in Scotland, we will probably be heads down riding into inclement Scottish February weather. This will certainly be a challenge!

We are not a group of seasoned cyclists, but excited to take up the challenge and raise money for a fantastic cause. We will be completing the challenge in a relay and have a support team in place to help us through the journey. We have not taken on a challenge like this before and will be well outside of our comfort zone! We ae doing this to help in the fight against Motor Neurone Disease. There is no cure for MND, nor any effective treatment. The average life expectancy from diagnosis is only 18 months, this must change. The ride is raising money for My Names Doddie Foundation, one of the main charities that are spearheading this fight.
We will be documenting our trials and tribulations as we prepare mentally and physically for this 4 day endurance test. We welcome you to join the journey and make sure you know your donation is being well earned.
