Story

💗Great North Run 2024💗

🤍Doing It For Coley🤍

This year will be a very special day as we will be running in memory of our darling Nicole.

Nicole was always a huge part of the Great North Run weekend. She took part in the childrens wheelchair race & then she was the best cheerleader cheering on our runners from her spot on the Tyne Bridge.

This year our darling angel will be looking down from heaven and we know she will be willing everyone on.

The GNR is the most iconic half marathon in the world and what better way to take part knowing you will be supporting the Batten Disease community and our family through: The Nicole and Jessica Rich foundation and The Batten Disease Family Association who support families across the UK living with all 13 different variants of Batten Disease.

We are incredibly proud to support the BDFA in the GNR once again and as a batten family, we know how valuable the support they give is to families who live with this devastating condition.

We feel even more passionate to raise as much as we can in memory of our darling daughter to support her sister and our family and to provide as much of a monetary contribution to the BDFA to know that we are helping them to continue to provide the much needed services to affected families.

The fundraising raised through the GNR event is split between 80% will be donated to the BDFA and 20% to our foundation The Nicole and Jessica Rich Foundation.

BDFA Core services

50% of the funds raised will go towards the BDFA Family Wellbeing Service, which includes Siblings group activities and therapies, also 1:1 therapies and couples therapies for family members

BDFA Special Project

30% we will be announcing this when we have finalised the details with the BDFA

NJRF

20% will be used to help with the care of our daughter Jessica to give her access to the specialist activities and equipment to support her individual needs and to allow us the opportunity to create precious family memories through experiences / holidays. Aswell as this, it will allow us to donate one off sums to support a service or an activity that supports our family within our local community.

‘Want to join Team Rich?’

To secure your guaranteed spot for this years race, all you need to do is:

1. Pay the entry fee of £62 directly to us we will send details privately for bank details

2. Commit to hit the minimum fundraising target of £175

3. We can then get you registered (we will talk you through this directly once the first steps are done)

We are all here to support each other and if anyone has any questions, concerns or anything they would like to talk about, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.

As in previous years, there will be lots of ongoing support including a guide to set up your ‘Just Giving’ pages (which will all link together to in our ‘Team Rich’ page.

We will have a team messenger group which is always an excellent way of connecting with other members of our team and sharing hints, tips, advice but mainly to encourage and get excited together as the weeks pass by and the big day finally arrives!!!

If anyone knows anyone who got a spot in the ballot but they have yet to choose a cause to support, we would love you to suggest running for batten disease as part of Team Rich and ask them to get in touch with us!

Thank you so much in advance.

We are grateful to have you on our team and we know you will have all the motivation you would ever need knowing you are running in memory of our sweetheart Nicole.

Let’s make this year our biggest yet.
