I am taking part in The Walk, c225 miles, from Llangwm, Pembrokeshire to Birmingham in June 2025.

It finishes on Father's Day, 15 June 2025.

Why am I walking? Simple answer - my best mate asked me.... This is his story;

'I walk for my Dad, Wally Hames, who passed away on 22 March 2020 and the reason who The Walk was founded .He passed away during national lockdown of March 2020, it meant only 6 people attended his funeral. As all attending were were from different households, the family could not travel together, sit together, having to socially distance. The family was unable to grieve together or support each other. There was no celebration of life, the wider family, friends and colleagues could not bid him farewell, offering the goodbye that he deserved.'

My reasons, apart from supporting my mate, is to enable the chosen charities help those who need it the most - No matter how small the request may be. I've seen first hand when my own Dad had a recent heart attack, everything changed and all of a sudden he needed support. I lost my Mom when i was 16 to cancer and anything we can do to identify, eradicate and support people who are fighting against cancer and those families impacted by its effects can only be positive.
