Our amazing team of runners are taking on the iconic 2025 London Marathon. Working together to support our prevention and survival work, helping people to live longer, happier, healthier lives – free from the devastating effects of cancer.

Story

I am running the London Marathon in memory of my Mum, Maggie, and to raise money for the charity World Cancer Research Fund.

In August 2023 Maggie was diagnosed with aggressive Stage IV Melanoma and shortly referred for palliative care. She received tremendous care and support during this time but sadly passed the following January.

Mum was there to support me when I ran my first marathon in Manchester in 2019 and was there at the finish line of the London Landmarks half in 2023 to support me over the line. Her support throughout my life meant the world and I'm proud to be able to run for her in 2025

To help raise money for the World Cancer Research Fund I will be completing two half marathons, Cambridge and Edinburgh. And a full marathon in Brighton with the final event being the London Marathon.

Why World Cancer Research Fund?

Every day around 1,100 people will hear the words ‘you have cancer’. Over 420 of these cases could have been prevented, that’s a staggering 155,000 people every year. World Cancer Research Fund, are passionate about reducing this number.

As part of an international network of charities, they’ve been funding life-saving research, influencing global health policy and informing the public since 1982.

While society continues to search for a cure, their prevention and survival work helps people to live longer, healthier, and happier lives – free from the devastating effects of cancer. The money I'm raising plays a huge part in keeping this going.
