Story
Having come together through our local running club, the aim of the Marathon Muckers is to choose a charity each year and organise/take part in as many activities as possible to raise much needed funds for that charity. This year 2023/24, we have chosen to support Bowel Cancer UK because everyone on our team knows someone who has had to fight bowel cancer or sadly, has been taken by it.
Did you know that bowel cancer is the 2nd biggest cancer killer, but it needn’t be. If caught early (Stage 1 or 2), over 9 in ten people will be successfully treated or cured.
We have two aims:-
- To raise as much money as possible for the charity
- To raise awareness of the signs and symptoms and encourage people to seek early medical intervention, so we can work towards a day when no-one dies of bowel cancer.
Watch this space, and our individual Facebook pages to find out about the exciting events we have planned, many of which you can hopefully take part in, and to keep track of our progress.
We know that times are hard, but every donation whether it be £1 or £100 will be so much appreciated, both by the team, and by Bowel Cancer UK as it supports their incredible work.
A bit about Bowel Cancer UK:-
We’re the UK’s leading bowel cancer charity.
We fund targeted research, provide expert information and support to patients and their families, educate the public and professionals about the disease and campaign for early diagnosis and access to best treatment and care.
We’re here to stop people dying of bowel cancer.
