Story
The Great Wall of China has been voted one of the New Seven Wonders of the World. Stretching for 6,000km, it zig-zags its way across China, snaking across mountains and through valleys.
I will spend five tough days trekking along this magnificent manmade structure. Over 35km I will pass through watch towers and mountains, historic battlement stations that are well off the tourist trail.
The trekking on this challenge is hard due to the number of steps up and down each day – it can sometimes take an hour just to trek 1km! Another highlight will be conquering the 1,000 steps up to the wall at Mutianyu – culminating with the ascent of the ‘Heavenly Ladder’.
Please dig deep and support my fundraising efforts to help care for terminally patients and their families in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland. Since starting work at Loros last July I realise how much fundraising has to be done to keep the doors of Loros open. It costs £8.2 million pounds per year to run Loros - £6 million of this has to come from fundraising of which 90% of this goes to pay for patient and relative care and support.
