Story
Why are we doing this?
There are many different reasons that people become homeless.
Crisis plan to end homelessness. MF play a small part in supporting this ambition. In 2021 we contacted the charity to offer support. We’re committed to provide pro bono coaching to Crisis people and their members. We have also committed to sponsor, train, qualify and supervise four people to become professional Coaches.
We’d love to support them further with our very first wellbeing fundraiser initiative.
Background
Every night 300,000 people in the UK experience homelessness. Half of these are children (Sky News 26 June 2023).
Research by the Salvation Army suggests that 78,000 hospital visits (one every 7 minutes) were made by people with ‘no fixed abode’ in England in the past year.
Between 2017/18 – 2021/22 hospital admissions for the homeless increased by 60%.
According to Crisis, the average age of death for people experiencing homelessness is 46 for men, and 42 for women. People sleeping on the street are almost 17 times more likely to have been victims of violence, and are over 9 times more likely to take their own life than the general population.
MF's "Cup of Tea" 2023 Fundraiser
A positive first step in trying to solve problems is to have a cup of tea. So please join us in donating the cost of a cup of tea to Crisis, and playing your part in finding a resolution to this crisis.
We want to extend our support of Crisis by showing our appreciation for their work and have created our first ‘Cup of Tea’ Fundraiser as part of our Wellness Week gratefulness initiative.
We’d love for you to join us.
Suggested donations
Cup of tea at a café/restaurant costs between £1 and £2.20 (UCC Pricewatch)
The average price of a cup of coffee is £2.45 (according to startup loans company, British Business Bank)
And tea with a slice of cake, or a fancy afternoon tea, can be anywhere from £5 upwards...
Thank-you!
Every cup of tea, is your contribution to the solution.
