Angela & Malcolm's fundraiser for Greenwich & Bexley Community Hospice

Trek Sahara 2025 · 20 March 2025 ·
Greenwich & Bexley Community Hospice's Trek Sahara is back for 2025. Angela & Malcolm have joined the fundraising team to raise much-needed funds and are up for the challenge!
Angela & Malcolm plan to trek 50km (30 miles) of the Sahara Desert to raise vital funds for their local hospice. This isn't going to be easy... the terrain is a mixture of hard, flat sundried plains, dried-up ancient riverbeds, wide sandy dune fields and hard rocky outcrops. Temperatures pose a specific challenge with temperatures historically reaching 35°C.
We will spend two full days and two half days trekking across ancient dried-up river beds, dunes and vast sun-baked plains and not only do we have to get fit, and develop better stamina to withstand 8 hours of walking each day, but also train with backpacks, going up and downhill - oh gosh, our poor feet!
But this trek is more than just a physical challenge - it's an opportunity to make a difference in the lives of those who need it most. Every year, the hospice provides care and support to over 3000 people with life-limiting illnesses and their families. They offer comfort, compassion, and hope during what can be an incredibly difficult time. And they do it all free of charge. But they can't do it alone. That's why we're asking for your help.
Many of our friends have benefited from the expert care provided by the hospice for their families who live in the area. We also love shopping in their local charity shops, having a good rummage & purchasing some unusual goodies!
We plan to keep updating this page with news about our training and fundraising and hope you can join us for the adventure of a lifetime as we trek over 30 miles for Greenwich & Bexley Community Hospice.
Times are tough, but we appreciate any support you can give!
Your contribution will go towards providing care and support to even more patients and families in need. Whether it's funding medical equipment or offering emotional support, every penny counts.
