Story
Born in in Wimbledon in November 1920, Warrant Officer Malcolm Cloutt served in WW2 as an RAF Dakota pilot. He is very humble about his role in the war, seeing it as a minor contribution in comparison with others. This involved working on Transport Command, transportation of Parachutists, collection of wounded and dropping of food amongst other things. Malcolm was also stationed to Myanmar (formerly Burma) where his crew were lost at sea while he was hospitalised with Appendicitis. Latterly he was based in Down Ampney, Gloucs in 62 Squadron, for European work building towards D Day.
Malcolm is 102 years old this month and well. He is well known in Princes Risborough, Buckinghamshire amongst all ages as a well- dressed gent who always has a moment to speak with you.
Following on from last year’s fundraising, for this year’s challenge Malcom has committed to walk three days of the eleven (1st , 5th & 11th November). Princes Risborough residents will also be walking on his behalf to raise money for the RBL. Malcolm walks in memory of his crew and to help ex- service men who are in need of support.
He will attempt to walk ¾ mile for three days ( using a walking stick as an aid this year) at 11 o’clock on 1st November starting from Woollerton Court and finishing with a cuppa in the new park Café in Princes Risborough Bucks .
However he will not be alone, as many people from the town including the Mayor want to support both Team Malcolm and the RBL and will be walking with him. He is hoping each day he will meet more people on his journey.
