Story
Gorgeous George Fox, who would be 15, is a very much missed and fondly remembered member of our school community. A group of staff from Arnold Academy, George's school, are aiming to complete 15 hours walking through the Peak District in one weekend, to raise funds for both Brain Tumour Research and Keech Hospice (our school's chosen charity for the year) as a way to remember George, though as a school, we will never, ever forget him. Please feel free to choose either or both charities, we are grateful for any donations at all. For some of us, the biggest challenge will be the two nights camping this requires!
Brain tumours kill more children and adults under the age of 40 than any other cancer… yet just 1% of the national spend on cancer research has been allocated to this devastating disease. This is unacceptable!
We are fundraising for Brain Tumour Research as they are the only national charity dedicated to funding long-term, sustainable research in the UK. Please help us fund the fight. Together we will find a cure.
Keech Hospice is a wonderful hospice, local to George, who supported him and his family at their greatest time of need. They have also touched the lives of so many of our students and their families. As a school, we have chosen to support them this year as our way of saying thank you, and giving back.
It takes around £7million every year to run Keech, that’s over £19, 000 every day, to provide their specialist care adults, children, and their loved ones. As a charity, they rely on supporters for around 70% of their funding.
