Thanks for visiting my JustGiving page. On Sunday 27th of April 2025 I'm running the London Marathon for the Royal Society for Blind Children (RSBC).
RSBC is an incredible charity dedicated to empowering young people affected by sight loss. RSBC's goal is for 'every blind child and their family to have the skills and confidence to live their life without limits.'

As a practicing Optometrist, I've witnessed firsthand the impact of visual impairment on my patients and their loved ones. I also witness the extraordinary support provided to them by charities like the RSBC.
The RSBC provide invaluable guidance and support from the point of diagnosis, and continue to throughout the sight loss journey. They run a family support service, working with families to provide the best possible environment for their child to grow, thrive and realise their potential. They also help blind children to develop confidence and independence through a range of programmes and activities, building amazing friendships.
Here are some statistics:
- Today there are an estimated 44,000 blind and partially sighted children in England and Wales.
- Every day, 4 more children will be diagnosed with sight loss.
- Blind children are twice as likely to be bullied
- One in three will suffer from depression and other mental health issues
- 90% will never have a long-term job
- Two thirds of blind people are living on or below the poverty line
- Most will never have a meaningful relationship
The statistics reveal the challenges that those living with sight loss face. So, let's get this marathon done and start raising money for this remarkable charity. Any donation would be greatly appreciated to help better the lives of young individuals and their families affected by sight loss.
