Story
I'm running the 2025 TCS London Marathon for Alzheimer's Research UK!
Having completed two marathons before, and having completed other fundraising activities, this is the first time a charity has meant something close to my heart.
My Mum was diagnosed with early on-set Alzheimer's at the age of 68 in December 2023. With no family history of the disease, this was a bit of a surprise. We remain positive (as attitude is everything) but there is still no turning back from this horrible disease.
I am making it my mission to now try and raise as many funds as possible, in order to hopefully one day find a cure, or for more preventative measures / medications.
1 in 3 people born in the UK today will develop dementia, currently just shy of 1 million people in the UK have it (not all diagnosed) and in just 15 years, this is due to rise to 1.4million people.
It is imperative that a cure for this disease is found and that more funding is prioritised to the few medications that can slow it down too.
I appreciate all and any support on this page.
