Story
Every three minutes in the UK, someone develops dementia – a progressive condition that affects the whole family. Too often, people are left to cope alone with ever-changing and relentless challenges.
That’s where Dementia UK – the specialist dementia nursing charity – comes in. Its nurses, known as Admiral Nurses, offer life-changing support when families feel exhausted, overwhelmed and alone. Working on the free national Dementia Helpline, in virtual and face-to-face clinics, and in the community, they are a lifeline when families do not know where to turn.
Dementia is a huge and growing health crisis. Today, around 944,000 people in the UK live with the condition, and it is predicted that by 2025, this number will have increased to one million. Dementia UK urgently needs to grow the number of Admiral Nurses so more families can access their expert, compassionate support.
