Motor Neurone Disease (MND) is a life-shortening disease that affects the nerves that tell muscles what to do. There is currently no cure and a third of people die within a year of diagnosis. The MND Association focuses on improving access to care, research and campaigning for those people living with or affected by MND in England, Wales and Northern Ireland.

My daughter Jenny and I have been planning to do the Great South Run for some time. When I learned recently that a friend’s partner had developed MND, and how devastating that diagnosis can be, I thought this would be a great cause to support.
