Story
From Lynn...
"I am doing a charity event, Trek Japan - Kyoto to Tokyo. from the 9th October to the 21st October 2023, with Dream Challenges.
We will walk the ancient pilgrimage route along the Kumano Kudo which is around 100k, walking over undulating terrain, taking in some spectacular scenery with people from all walks of life and different nationalities participating.
I have a lot of training to do to get fit enough to do the challenge, but that has its obvious benefits to me in keeping me as healthy as I can be, and I get to meet with like minded people and make new friendships along the way.
The reason I am undertaking this challenge is because my long term partner died from cancer in 2021, and loved Japan after visiting in 2020, but sadly we never got to Koyoto. I also loved both of them and would like to go back with his ashes and set him free.
I have paid for the trip myself and would like to raise some funds towards a charity for them to be able to carry on with research into a cure.
I work for Verdant Leisure who support Brain Tumour Research, and this is who I would like to support."
Brain Tumour Research are the only national charity in the UK dedicated to raising funds for continuous scientific research into brain tumours, and are a leading voice calling for greater support and action for research into what scientists are calling the last battleground against cancer.
1 in 3 people in the UK knows someone affected by Brain Tumours. By fundraising, you are helping to find a cure for a disease which has been woefully underfunded with less than 1% of the national investment in cancer research having been allocated to brain tumours.
They work in the heart of the community to give hope to thousands of families that are faced with the diagnosis of the biggest cancer killer of children and adults under the age of 40.
