We help over 2,000 local people each year to live their precious lives well
Story
One of my husband’s closest friends, Neil, sadly passed away in October 2023 following a gruelling battle with cancer. Neil spent the last 5 months of his life being cared for at the Hospice of St Francis (Berkhamsted). Neil’s wife Liz and their 2 young daughters have made it their goal to raise £100,000 for the Hospice with a year of fundraising, as the hospice was such a wonderful support to all the family during an extremely difficult time.
There are around 20 people running the Great North Run as part of this fundraising drive, an event that Neil specifically requested that people take part in. Neil once ran the Great North Run but forgot to pack his running shorts for the event, so he had to run the course in his “parrot” themed pyjama shorts! So naturally, it was decided that we should all run in clothing that was either parrot-themed or checked (Neil loved a checked shirt).
If you are able to spare any amount, no matter the size, it would be very much appreciated.
Thank you also for visiting the team fundraising page (link above for team a year of fundraising for Neil).
Liz has planned so many events to raise funds for the Hospice of St Francis in Neil’s name and it would be amazing if we can hit the target of £100,000 before the anniversary of Neil’s death on 16th October 2024. Please see below for further details of all the relevant events.
Thank you so much for your support.

The Hospice helps people to live their precious lives well. Our care has many forms – at home, in our outpatient Spring Centre or through specialised care in one of our Hospice beds - and is defined by each person's need. We rely on donations to raise the £6m we need each year to fund our free care.
