Story

Alder Hey children’s hospital have saved both my sons.

When Mason was 9 months old he had a stroke due to his Cavernoma (abnormal blood vessel) bleeding onto his brain which caused him to lose the use of his right side. The surgery required to remove his Cavernoma was extremely difficult but the neurosurgeon at Alder Hey was able to do it with no complications. Mason also needed to have another Cavernoma removed to due to it causing him to have seizures. Both surgeries were a success and he was well taken care of by everyone in Alder Hey.

Unfortunately my other son Leo has also had to have his Cavernoma removed due to the possibility it could cause hydrocephalus or him losing his eyesight. Leo’s surgery was successful and the neuro team did such a good job that he was out of hospital within 2 days. He felt so at home and thought all the nurses were so amazing that he was tempted to stay an extra night haha.

No one wants to think about their children needing to be in hospital but Alder Hey is such an amazing place that they make you feel as at home as they possibly can. They have even recently set up a Medicinema so children can go watch films while they are staying in hospital. They really do go about and beyond for their patients.

We as a family are taking part in Oli’s safari walk to raise as much money as possible for this amazing children’s hospital. Any donations at all would be amazing. Thank you 😊
