Story
I will be participating in the UK Charity All-Star Weekend 24, an Ice Hockey tournament consisting of various teams raising money and awareness for different charities.
I have chosen to support Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM).
I've always been the loud kid, the class clown, the one that doesn't shut up. This made it feel really hard for me to turn around and say that I was struggling.
The more I talked and opened up, the more I realised that I was not alone.
CALM is leading a movement against suicide. Every week 125 people in the UK take their own lives. And 75% of all UK suicides are male. CALM exists to change this by offering life saving services, provoking conversation and bringing people together to reject living miserably.
From advice on their site, through to free, confidential chats with their helpline staff, online or on the phone, they're there for whoever needs them, every day. No matter what.
£8 is enough to fund one potentially life-saving call.
£24 Provides support materials to 4 families who have lost someone to suicide
£109 Equips a volunteer with vital training and ongoing support to spread the CALM message across the UK
£440 Trains and equips a professional helpline worker to speak to people in crisis
