Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

In June 2024, my sister Joanna went through a percutaneous pulmonary valve replacement.

We were blown away by the care and support given by the staff in this hospital. Joanna is now hoping to raise some money to give something back.

Research has allowed this procedure to be preformed keyhole and not open heart. This is incredible and this hospital is a specialist for all those who have Adult Congenital Heart Disease (ACHD). Joanna wants to raise more awareness about ACHD.

ACHD has become an increasingly important field as more children with CHDs survive into adulthood due to advances in pediatric cardiac care. These patients require ongoing medical attention and sometimes surgical interventions throughout their lives.

Joanna previously raised £2245 for Birmingham Children’s hospital after her open heart surgery in 2008. So now it’s time to raise some money for the next stage of her medical journey.

I will be joining Joanna on a London 10k Halloween walk in October to raise money for this amazing hospital so they continue to carry on research into this area.
